About RIS

Terry Stang, Audio Technician
Radio Information Service is the only radio reading service in southwestern Pennsylvania for those who are blind, visually impaired or unable to hold print materials.
Programming includes the reading of local and regional newspapers, popular magazines, ads from grocery, drug and department stores, TV listings and other special interest publications. RIS also provides translations of printed material to Braille or audio recording.
Since its founding in 1976, RIS's programming has been broadcast on WDUQ's sub-carrier channel. Listeners can access the programming through a special FM radio receiver, over the Internet, on Comcast Cable systems or through the RIS Telephone Dial-In Service.
